Hypnotherapy We choose to separate the title of this page as it is a more accurate reflection of hypnosis, as well as this is the most normal and natural part of our everyday life. No one can be hypnotised against their free will and well being. No one can be made to say or do things that would compromise their personal morale code, belief or religion. Hypnotist, have no hidden powers and hypnotic trance is a therapeutic process for accessing our conscious, subconscious and unconscious minds individually respectively or simultaneously. Hypnosis facilitate past recall, focus on present situations and imagine what life could be like. Nothing seen, heard, felt, smelt, tasted and thought is wiped from memory. Somethings are too trivial to retrieve or too painful to accept. Hypnosis has a wide applications in therapy, it can facilitate self-understanding and allow resolution directly or indirectly. Hypnotic trance is utilise by other therapies successfully without making references to trance. For example:
Trance occurs naturally and thousands of times everyday when awake this is called ‘Day Dreaming’ that we engage in when bored, as a pleasurable and harmless mind activity, while immersed in repetitive tasks that require concentration or attention. This is important for mental welfare just as dreaming is at night. Trance can help people out of habitual and ingrained patterns called ‘Positive Trance Experiences’ and it usually assist in problem solving. When past experiences were traumatic day dreaming might be indulged in as an escape form. This protect the individual from serious harm and this usually is beneath awareness. Beliefs and thoughts shape behaviour when this causes problems it is call ‘Negative Trance Experience’ and people may engage in reversing thoughts over and over so the person feels stuck or unwell due to excess pressure. For trance to be healing isn’t implying a zonked-out clients and clients are actively involved in the healing process. A therapist use strings hypnotic words to progress therapy and hypnosis is suitable for many but not everyone. MAUREEN M BUCKLEY MIKE BUSSUNT MIKE CLEMIT [ EFFIE
