This treatment is concerned with the mechanics of physical balance and control. The body starts deteriorating early in infancy and accelerates as stresses takes its toll. If balance or control is less efficient, excessive effort and tension insidiously is ingrained into movement, habits, thoughts, feelings and reaction to stimuli. Many, vaguely are aware of physiological warning signs or their nervous reaction to difficulties. Also people seldom realised how much the body is misused or its affects on the breathing, circulation, digestion, mental attitudes and emotional equilibrium. This technique can provide ways of improving the body’s ability to control balance, movement and prevent or alleviate influences of a disorder process. Alexander Teachers aim to help to take a fresh look at own thinking pattern, daily physical movement and activities. Alexander teachers devise way of encouraging clients to practice their learnt exercises regularly. Lessons are on one to one basis, using gentle, subtle manual guidance, helping pupil towards greater freedom and balance. F. M. Alexander began teaching in 1894. People from all walks of life, with considerable physical, mental and emotional obstacles can learn to overcome their adverse circumstances and find greater ease within the self in their dealings with the life in general.
